Lewistown, PA to Seattle, WA via Amtrak

Well, we're going to be on the road next Friday, Aug 2nd. We leave Lewistown, PA, at about 3:45pm, head thru the Horseshoe Curve in Altoona, en route to Pittsburgh on the Pennsylvanian. Once we arrive in Pittsburgh we have a layover until the Capital Limited leaves for Chicago. This will be an overnighter and we get into Chicago around 9am on Saturday, Aug 3rd. Another four hour layover in Chicago and we board the Empire Builder around 2pm, headed for our first real destination which will be East Glacier, Montana, and the East Glacier Lodge, now celebrating its 150th anniversary. The town of East Glacier sits right at one of the corners of Glacier National Park where we'll be spending our next four days exploring what is one of the US's prime national parks. We have journeys scheduled to the Prince of Wales Hotel which is located up in Waterton Provincial Park, Canada's portion of Glacier National Park. We will travel there by the Red Buses which are small restored vehicles from the 1950's which used to transport visitors around the park. I guess a highlight (for Sheila) at the Prince of Wales will be a high tea in the afternoon, afterwhich we will return to East Glacier. I will attempt to insert photos along the way and will be adding more text as we begin this adventure. Our ultimate destination is Seabeck, WA, where we'll be visiting with our younger son, Ben, who has been living out in that area for about (5) years. It is on the Kitsap Peninsula along the Hood Canal, all of which is to the West of the Puget Sound and the city of Seattle. Off we go!!!!!! Thanks for reading!!!!!!
