Our First Day at Glacier Park

We had a full day of activities planned for today and the weather cooperated.  Left the East Glacier Lodge early this morning in trying to beat the large crowds to Logan Pass and the Hidden Lake trail.  They were doing major roadwork on the "Going to the Sun road", a famous connection between East and West Glacier but we managed to get into their parking lot and completed the three mile hike up to Hidden Lake and return. Such a beautiful spot, I've included a shot of Hidden Lake from the top of the trail.  Also along the way we ran across a "Mom" mountain goat and her little offspring, got a pretty good close-up of them with my zoom.  One more pic is the 100 year old (this year) East Glacier Lodge where we're staying.  An interior shot of the atrium with its 60 foot fir trees is also in this post.  Tomorrow is Sheila's big day, high tea up in the Prince of Wales hotel in the Waterton (Canadian) section of this beautiful park.  Hope to sleep well tonight after our trek up into Logan Pass.  Good evening.

  1. The lodge looks beautiful. Sounds like you are having a great time. How close are you now to the Canadian border?
